Nook – e-Book Reader With Colored Screen

Have you ever experienced the feeling of being on the eleventh cloud with all eyes turned on you? There you are with an honest answer. It is that device in your hands which attracts attention of all sitting in Starbucks! Well, that is the aura which the smart Barnes and Noble’s (B&N) Nook is creating with every appearance.

Colored Screen

This “Android-based” e-book reader measuring 7.7 x 4.9 x 0.5 inches and weighing 11.2 ounces is creating its fan-base due to its 3.5 inches LCD color touch-screen. The e-ink display from Vizplex (600 x 800 pixels; 16 levels of gray) is placed at the top providing paper-like opacity and an easy-on-eyes reading experience. As e-ink consumes less power so the battery life is long, i.e., up to one week as claimed by B&N. The bottom colored screen helps with the device’s controls and menus. At the touch of a finger a virtual keyboard pops up and all that is required is tapping the virtual buttons and providing swiping actions back and forth.

Read Along With Background Music

How about enjoying some audio books on your Nook? It sounds interesting because Barnes and Noble has stretched the reading experience through a built in MP3 player, a headphone jack, a mono speaker, and a micro USB port. Those who love reading with some music can find Nook as an all-in-one gadget. Memory related worries are best put aside with the provision of a Micro SD expansion slot in addition to an inbuilt 2 GB memory.

“Lend-me” an e-Book Please!

Nook allows browsing and purchasing of books through AT&T’s 3G wireless network. It also provides Wi-Fi network, although it is limited to only B&N’s store network. Won’t you like lending your reading piece to your friends? Nook, with its exclusive feature “LendMe” attempts just that. For 14 days the e-book can be lent to anybody with the required software and thereafter received back in your device’s library.

Updated Nook 1.2

The earlier version had some software and interface glitches, but Nook’s version 1.2 has an improved responsiveness. The updated device has been better optimized for enhanced in-store connectivity as well. The attractive feature of book-marking and the unique aspect of e-Lending have been better clarified.

Nook is bound to give tough competition to the Kindle series. It is up to you to decide what to buy. Go through available reviews and weigh the pros and cons wisely before leaping into action. Nook is the latest product out there in the market from one of the most prestigious book store which enables you to enjoy reading with a colored screen to look at along with the gray one!
